Results from today's election show Prop 100 passing by a large margin. The people have spoken and it is FOR education.

I'm a bit bummed actually. I was initially for it and anyone that knows me would expect me to vote for it.

After thinking about it I decided to vote no. Most things have to get worse before they get better. Maybe if it got bad enough, people would stop voting these loons into office. Oh well.

On a side note.......My polling place is at my daughters school. After filling in the line for no, I swear they guy standing by the machine gave me a look. Made me fill a bit guilty

Yeah, with only one question on that huge ballot sheet it was pretty easy to tell which way someone voted with just a glance.

Sucks for sure. They are already taking money away from State Employees forcing them into Furloughs then expect them to ok taking more via a tax increase.
Guess the state employees will just have to suck it up some more and be happy to be employed.
Ok enough soapbox now on for the rest of the story

If by chance this does pass will the state become more

And, our mandatory contribution to the retirement system is going up, too.

It will pass, no question anymore. I am concerned that the legislature will try some sleight of hand to "steal" the money generated for their ill-conceived purposes (the the so-called "jobs" bill). But Gov. Brewer is no longer politically weak and has pledged that the bill will not pass. Also, the landslide victory for what was sold as an education bill will make it hard for them to do that.

The ultraconservative troglodytes in the legislature were dead-set against letting the people decide on the sales tax, going against members of their own party including Jan Brewer.

The people of Arizona have passed it with flying colors.

It goes to prove that the clowns in the legislature do not represent the views of Arizona's majority.

Nice job voters, passing this temporary tax proves that the people of this state are not all backward, and value education and public service.

It may be "for" education but it also sends a message that it is okay to mismanage the state as all you need to do is to increase taxes to pay for it.

That is why I voted "no". Because I want to see a proper program to reform how the state is managed. Not just cuts and not just more taxes but a balanced, realizable, sensible program.

And what happened to the last two "temporary" tax increases? Yep, still with us.
