why don't you research the evidence for yourself? Hollywood's got nothing to do with it.

You are right. It does happen in the USA all the time. Take a look at the Innocence Project for examples of just how often. That is why I do not under any circumstances justify the death penalty.

This has nothing to do with Hollywood. These people are offering their support for these men due to an injustice. The fact they are famous just brings this more out into the open which is a GOOD thing. If you look at the WM3 websites you will find that there are a lot of people that are supporting them. This includes famous and infamous. It includes people like me that nobody knows or will ever have the public pull that the famous do. If it gets them the attention they deserve, what difference does it make who they are?

Based upon the new DNA evidence and from my own research I believe they deserve a new trial. They may have been in the wrong place wearing the wrong clothing at the wrong time.

Lawyers representing three men convicted of killing three 8-year-old boys in a notorious 1993 murder case have reached a potential deal that could allow the men, known as the West Memphis Three, to walk free on Friday, people familiar with the deal said.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/20/us...s.html?_r=1&hp

A deal? So the prosecution can save face? All charges should be dropped and the state needs to admit they messed up big time.

Of course, that will never happen.

Did they ever seriously consider John Mark Byers to be a suspect?

Sadly, they will not - because the "justice system" in Jonesboro made sure they copped a plea to something in order to make it look like they did their job in the first place (and to save their butts from getting sued). The state doesn't care about finding the real killer(s) - they just want this to go away.

Were the WM3 actually innocent? No one knows and no one ever will likely know because of the complete mockery of the justice system that was their initial trial. The cases should have been re-tried (properly) - but it seems likely that the state realized there wa a good chance they would not be able to win another conviction in such a situation, so instead made these arrangements to avoid any potential embarassment of a re-trial with a different outcome.

The sad part is, that when they figure out from DNA evidence, that they locked up the wrong guys all these years and the real killer are still roaming the streets, nothing will change. People will remain solid belivers that those kids were guilty because of who they were.

I am pretty sure Arkansas is not the only state who has imprisoned the wrong people, actually if you look it up I am sure it has probably happened in every state in our nation.

I don't think they are guilty based on the evidence that I have heard.
