I am considering purchasing a B&B in Heber Springs (this will be my first innkeeping venture). After reading some of the threads here regarding the low pay scale and standard of living, I'd like to know what you think about the possibility of survival in the hospitality industry, specifically in Heber Springs.

I currently live in Houston and am exceedingly anxious to not live here (the weather, traffic, illegals, pollution, crime, etc.)

I teach ESL/English in a public school, so that could be a fall-back job if I needed it. Any ideas about teaching opportunities there? Thanks for any input. God bless you.

Default Heber Springs perfect...if

you advertise correctly. Possibilities endless for the right person! No money in job market...so owning your own B & B would be perfect! I have some ideas if you're interested. Do you know anyone who likes to fish (lake or river) hunt or interested in water sports? Because, you are NOT going to get any help from the "residents" here! If you want to do this...you will be "on your own". Plenty of things to do...tours you could arrange, etc.

I believe that a B & B could be a very succesful venture in Heber Springs. It is one of the most beautiful places here in Arkansas. Advertisement would be key..With the ESL degree you are most assured of a job - it is in high demand here in Arkansas...but I doubt it is in high need in Heber. I would say that you could do some sort of promotional thing like try to get women to come while their husbands are deer-hunting or fishing..things like that. I live about thirty minutes away from Heber and that is all I have seen folks interested in around here.
