Feltner's Whatta-Burger Explores Sale

Let's just say right up front that it's not a done deal, so as not to send the folksy Arkansas eatery crowd into a tizzy.

But we hear that Feltner's Whatta-Burger in Russellville, a nationally known burger institution and an Arkansas landmark since 1967, could be on the sales block. Owner Randy Ellis confirmed the family was looking to sell, but a deal is not close to being final.

"We are looking into it," Ellis said. "There's nothing at this point to report."

Our source says the popular burger, fries and milkshake joint may be offering to sell to the more mainstream Whataburger chain based out of Corpus Christi, Texas. Ellis would not comment on any possible buyers, but did not deny that the Whataburger franchise was a possibility.

A spokesman at the Whataburger chain declined comment.

When asked why the owners of the longstanding burger restaurant were looking to unload, Ellis simply said, "We're running out of family members.
