Hi! My boyfriend works for the Forest Service and just took a promotion in Waldron, Arkansas. We will be moving from Custer, South Dakota October 1st. He's got a 16 year old daughter who will be going to the HS in Waldron. Anyone have any information they would like to share on the area, school, community, people, housing, jobs? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Smile Waldron

I live about 50 miles north of there. It's pretty there, though nowhere near as spectacular as what I would guess you would have in the Dakotas. It's probably a relatively good place to raise kids. The only real drawback I can think of is that the town is notorious for cliques. I had a motorcyclist friend who really loved it down there. Best wishes!

I've never been thru waldron, but I can tell you that the Ouachita's are very pretty, and I'm sure you guys will love Arkansas.

May I ask what your b-friend did for the forest service in Custer? I've just applied for a Geologist position with them in Custer. Just thought it was odd that you mention the forest service in Custer.

Wink Reply -Moving to Waldron,AR.

Hi
Noticed your Post-
I live in Waldron AR.,It is very pretty as well as the surrounding area's.
However i am glad to hear your husband/boyfriend is employed, with a descent job. There is not much work here(Nil)and running across jobs here
is also very difficult. Your ownly options would be to go to Fort Smith,
or Mena AR. If you are planning to work as well. Pretty much theres:
Walmart,Sonic,McDonald's,Tyson foods,2 grocery stores,few convient stores,
and few Restruants, and few Misc places and thats it. Also not a whole
lot to do. But if you dont mind quite then this is the place to be.

In recreational type activities-my guess would be to go to Fort Smith,
Or Springdale AR. Wish ya the Best-Latasha

Default i live in waldron

hi, i have lived in waldron all my life and have raised 2 kids here, i have a teenage daughter as well, she is loving high school so far it is her first year. truth is, very quiet place to live, not much action or activities here, but i love it, jobs are scarce. but the people are friendsly and will help you in any way they can. as with any town, it has its little quirks, but that is anywhere you go. i dont know much about the housing , there are a few apartment buildings, which i would not recommend...a bit unsavory. there are some nice places for sale, not sure about rent houses. there is a few convenient stores, 1 walmart, too many beauty shops and too many flower shops. only 1 grocery store which is entirely too expensive. luckily there are a couple of bigger towns not too far away for shopping. This is a country atmosphere with a bunch of good ole hillbillies livin here, but we are all good folks and always willing to lend a helping hand to new comers. So, Welcome to Waldron!!!!!

I have family there. I wouldn't want to live their personaly but If you like country living you probably aren't going to get much more country than Waldron. The weather is probably a little nicer than in the Dakota's too.

Since the OP (Dreamnpray) asked the question on 9-01-2006 , I would presume her boyfiend has already been on the job 2 years , 4 months, and the 16 year old daughter who would be starting high school in 2006 is now graduated.

Perhaps Dreamnpray could post back and comment about her views after already living there for 2 years and 4 months.
