I don't think we have paid over $7.50 at any restaurant in Benton County except PF Changs and Ruth Chris, but they are always jacked up. JW Black was $9.95 at Bone Fish but hubby said it was a double shot so he didn't complain to much. You are right about the distributorships, still I am sure they get a nice discount at say: MacAdoodles.

Yes, by buying bulk I am sure. "House" wine is very subjective. I managed a upscale restaurant in Little Rock for over a year and "house" wine changed labels quite a bit. I could get a bottle of Le Volte' wine for $7 from a distributor and we sold it for $28. Nice margin.

yes, certainly house brands can vary: some being very good, I can't remember what they were serving at the Country club a few months ago, but it was mid line or better; other times it can be out of the Frazia box (well not quite) but you get the picture.

There ARE bars in Northwest Arkansas, including in Benton County. Just because they serve pub grub doesn't mean it's not a bar.

There's the bar at the Rogers Inn, for example. Pool tables, a bar, and so much cigarette smoke that you have to wash your hair when you leave.

Actually you bring up a good point: of the places we have lived and visited in the past 5 years or so, almost all have passed laws making it mandatory to serve food in the bars, even if it is just sandwhiches. BTW, I think this is a good idea.

Rogers Inn? Whoa. You went out on a limb on that one. I was thinking the only real bar (loosely speaking) I have seen up here is McB's (sp) but it has the feeling of a pool haul.

Opinions again, but I guess my idea of a bar is more of a pub/tavern kind of thing.

Let me see, you walk in the door, there are a couple of pool tables, and beyond that a room with a long wooden bar, behind which stands a bartender, and on display in the center are dozens of bottles of various liquors. All around the bar are bar stools, with people nursing drinks and smoking cigarettes. In the rest of the room are small tables around which people sit, drinking the drinks barmaids bring them. There are televisions hung in the corners of the room. Every once in a while, someone orders chips and salsa, or nachos, or hotwings, pretty much the extent of the menu. There are bowls of peanuts or pretzels set out on the bar.

How exactly does that not qualify as a bar?

You are correct. I will change my opinion to stress that NWA has ONE bar and I really wish they had more options.
