A couple of other places come to mind if you have the time - you won't regret either because the scenery is so incredible. The first would be Mt. Magazine, which is further off I40 than it looks like on the map - it's all 2-lanes. I think the easiest route would be to get off at Ozark and go SE through Paris. It's the highest point in Arkansas, I think...the 2nd would be infinitely easier to get to - Mt. Nebo in Yell County just south of Russellville/Dardanelle. Let the driver beware - don't even attempt this if the weather is iffy or if you get lightheaded with lots of curves and switchbacks. Once you get there, it is lovely. You can see Nebo from I40 - the cabins are exceptionally clean if you stay over and the wildlife is right outside your door. I'd also second Petit Jean State Park.

Surely wish you were seeing our state in the spring/summer - so much to see and do - the January weather can just be all over the board. Safe travels!

I kid. It's not that bad (...yes it is...).

Anyway, you may want to visit Booger Hollow (AR Hwy 7 north of Russellville), or Pickles Gap (US Hwy 65 north of Conway), if you like those sort of touristy things. Obviously, Little Rock is on I-40, so you've got all the shopping places there, along with the President Clinton Library. If you are the outdoorsy type, Petit Jean State Park is somewhat along the way. Of course, in late January, not sure if that is the best time to do the outdoorsy thing. Those are things just off the top of my head.
Heads up, booger hollow has been closed for some years now.

Depending on where you are: yes, on the more rural roads particularly and some state and federal highways they drive slow both in AR and OK. The funny thing: they speed like crazy through parking lots, explain that one.
