The Bella Vista Bypass will finally begin construction next year being a part of Interstate 49 from Kansas City to Shreveport down to the Gulf of Mexico. It will be nice when I-49 from Fort Smith to Shreveport begins.

It seems if the US Government wants to create jobs, the best place to start would be fast tracking the building of highways. They need to be built, and it creates jobs.

I'm ready for a short drive to the casinos of Shreveport from NWA.

Good post, while you are waiting how about Tunica? It is much quicker. We are headed there for our anniversary in about 2 weeks.

I passed through Tunica last month. There are a lot of big casinos that are great, but there is hardly even a McDonald's in the area.

Shreveport's a great town with quite a bit more than casinos.

I'll take what I can get and Tunica beats the Indian casinos in our estimation. As for no Micky D's, I know, the place is pretty much nothing. We haven't been there for quite a few years. I guess they now have a pretty neat river park. I will let you know when we get back in a few weeks..

I really liked the Shreveport/Bossier City area- the Horseshoe was where we were, and it was much nicer than most of the non-Vegas areas I've been to. Nice little riverfront area in general, and I highly recommend the Blind Tiger for a light dinner or good lunch.

It will be built in sections. First section will be near Hiwasse, to be bid in 2011. Next section may be Hiwasse to the MO State Line. For now, it will be a 2-Lane controlled access roadway, but will have enough right of way to expand to 4 Lanes once money becomes available.

If y'all think there's nothing to Tunica now you should have seen it before the casinos got there. I grew up across the river, was fascinating seeing all that stuff sprout up out of absolutely nothing. It wasn't even on the way to anywhere.

It is pretty impressive. I go to Batesville, MS every so often, and run up to the Casinos. You gotta love the Delta.

I read an article about Tunica, I think before our first visit about 14 years ago. It was shortly after the building of the casinos and it said the same thing. The gaming industry had put Tunica on the map and thousands to work. I know many do not beleive in gambling, think it leads to crime and family distruction because some get addicted to it, but the industry has helped support many families.

Now, off my high horse for the day..

Yup, lots of people employed at Mississippi casinos in Tunica, Vicksbutg, Natchez, and on the gulf coast.

However all that state revenue from the casinos that was supposed to hrelp finance schools in Mississippi hasn't seemed to pull Mississippi from the bottom rankings when it comes to educating kids.
