What makes going "wet" lucrative for many cities in other states I'd the issuance of liquor licenses

Also, many municipalities have a local tax on every alcoholic beverage sold and every drink sold

Fort Payne Alabama voted no every time it came up , but the state tourism convinced them they were losing out on tourism by remaining dry

They decided to dedicate all local alcohol tax to the school in Fort Payne

Suddenly more people were interested

It passed ( a few years ago ) by a vote of roughly 1700-1500
If cities/counties stressed to the public how much revenue could be generated by going wet, it might change peoples minds

( by the way...........Fort Payne schools receive well into the $100,000's. Each year from Fort Payne going wet

you make some excellent points and so does Rogmar. Too many people, not knowing what they are talking about want to assume it is the evangilical Christains that are behind areas staying dry. This was true maybe 50 or ever 20 years ago, but it isn't anymore.

I think you can in Eureka Springs, AR.

In 2009, a law made such decisions fall to the municipalities in certain cases.

New law expands local options for Sunday alcohol sales *|*Arkansas News
