Needs to be completed. That's all.

I drive from Michigan to East Texas in one day with my three year-old and year-old daughters on a semi-regular basis. By the time we hit I-40, they.are.not.happy. And they are not shy about telling me so. So, traffic jam + screaming toddlers ≠ a happy drive. We lost two hours a couple of weeks ago--and that was on a Sunday night! Anybody else have the same problem?

If you came through Memphis and hit west bound I-40 you will have that problem at the White River Bridge for a few more years. My suggestion is, after Memphis, get on west bound U.S. 70 as soon as you can until after you cross the White, then get back on I-40. 70 is a two-lane highway but the last time I was on it, it was well maintained.

After re-reading your Post it appears your problem was east of Memphis. I haven't been over there. If you jumped off onto I-30 at Little Rock, you probably ran into more construction from the 97 Mile Marker west for several miles. I was through there today and it is all completed.

ArkansasSlim, I was on the west bound I-40. I think my Garmin took me on 70 a few trips ago. I'll be sure to take it from now on. Thank you!
