The Hot Springs "Born & Raised" population HAVE NO CONCEPT OF PROPRIETY, RESPECT, SELF RESPECT, BOUNDARIES, LOYALTY, HONESTY, HONOR, MORALITY OR ETHICS. The "Transplants" are the ONLY ones who possess any of those equalities. Once they have lived here for so long, endured so much...THEY BEGIN TO FOLLOW THE LEAD OF THE NATIVES. That is UNLESS they make a POINT to NOT ASSOCIATE with those that are trouble (it is NOT difficult to recognize who is and who isn't...they do NOT try to hide it. To them it is NORMAL.) AND TO LIVE FAR BEYOND THE OUTSKIRTS.

Which is precisely what my husband & I did. We bought 4 acres in Royal. Do NOT allow just anyone to know exactly where we live.Do NOT associate with many people: those we do associate with...majority are TRANSPLANTS or were raised by parents who figured out how IMPORTANT it is to STEER CLEAR of those who are trouble.

The crime is VERY HIGH too.

As I said, yeah it's a nice place to visit...HOT SPRINGS IN NO WHERE TO LIVE.
Wow though I do not live there we have visited many times and have friends who do: The Hot Springs you are describing isn't the one I have seen. I would have trouble living there because it is just a little too isolated for me. Otherwise I think it is a delightful town only a bit touristy. I have never heard the crime is particularly high or the people are not friendly and inviting.
Anyway, I ask the same question that has been asked; why don't you just move for heavens sake?

I notice this is your first visit to CD. Welcome, too bad you had to post such a negative response to a question the first time you got on the site.

I share Kristie71968's opinion of Hot Springs. I also moved here 5 years ago and am getting ready to sell my house and move on. The "transplants" I've met from other places are nice, but the locals are a nightmare. The crime rate is way higher than it should be, that's for sure. This is a great place for spending a 3-day weekend, but living here did not work out well for me or my family.
