Southwest now flies into Branson, Mo (this is a different airport than Springfield/Branson Regional). I would not recommend flying in/out of Branson during the "winter" months. The airport is located 5 miles of Hwy65 on a long, winding road.

yes, I would say Branson because of SW. There are a couple airports closer than Little Rock I will add. Springfield for starters. No, it isn't major like DFW or Kcity, but it is decent sized and has a few airlines that fly there.

There are also decent but small airports in Fayetteville and Fort Smith. You'd still be driving a good ways, but you'd get to see some beautiful Arkansas scenery.

Thank you all for the replies. I guess now, I should rephrase this: Which is the most economical way into NW Arkansas?? The prices are out of this world to come see the area! Any tricks of the trade?

"Tricks of the trade" for finding decent airfare--I use
Itasoftware.com . It was the frameworks behind Sabra; now it's owned by Google.
Click on the "airfare search". I like that you can have it search specific route--say LAX to XNA, then you can click down and have it also search all airports within 50-300 miles. You can do searches for specific dates or best fare during 30 days.
It will not search the discount airlines like Southwest, Jet Blue, Allegiant. You'll have to go to those specific websites to search their fares.
