Me and my wife are interested in moving to hot springs next year. I live about 200 miles north in Branson and it really slows down during the winter months. We really struggle up here during that time. Would it be the same down there? I do work for a major fast food chain so finding a job should be a snap. All input very welcome.

It probably doesn't slow down as much as the Branson area, but, of course, being partly a tourist town, thing are not going to be as busy in the winter. The good news is the race track opens in late Jan or early Feb so the weekends are pretty busy. Like any tourist town though, there will be high and low periods.

The race track has slots and other gambling year 'round and boating on the lakes, and fishing, is on-going unless it is extremely cold, or bad weather. It doesn't slow down near as much as it did in past years when all they had was race and summer tourist seasons. Come on down, and you will be welcome in The Natural State.

the live racing season actually starts in early january (jan 11) and lasts until middle april. as stated above, the casino is open all year now and the area offers a variety of entertainment for about any season. i see less down time in the area every year. late fall is about the slowest, but the racing industry workers will start showing up in early winter with the horses. also, the area has a large christmas shopping crowd.

i don't think you will be disappointed, if you move.

I've been working in Hot Springs almost every week for the past couple of years. Hot Springs is definitely busier in the summer months, but it isn't dead in the winter either. Things do slow down enough that some hotels drop their prices.
