Driving to pine bluff to meet a potential resue dog for our home.
We decided to stay overnight ( it's a 300 mile trip for us). Anything a MUST SEE in this area?

There isn't much to see or do in Pine Bluff. You may notice a distinct and unpleasant odor from the paper mills in the area.

Sad to say, Pine Bluff is a depressed area that is only losing ground. I'd personally make the drive on 270 to Malvern or Arkadelphia for the night. I'm assuming you're coming in on I-30. Not much to see in either of those spots, just better and safer surroundings. I'm not saying all of Pine Bluff is horrible, I'm just saying there's a lot of places you don't want to be.

I hate to be a downer about any area of Arkansas, but that's just one place I could never feel any affinity for. Someone else may have a completely different perspective.

After reading previous posts on here about pine bluff, I thought about asking my question to be deleted from here.
Sam, we called up some dear friends who just moved to arkadelphia, and they said exactly what you posted. He suggested staying in Malvern where he was born.
WE will do this.

We never drove into Pine Bluff.
We never got to meet that rescue dog.
Timing wasn't right for the foster family, the rescue group, or our application papers.
While we were waiting for everyone to get back to us we met and rescued a beautiful German Shepherd in our home town.

Is there an actual pine bluff in Pine Bluff?

Sort of. It's the hill that separates the Mississippi River delta land from the hilly/foresty part of the state. The farther south you go, the more pronounced the hill is.

It's the line separating the darker green on the left side of the map with the lighter green on the right side of the map. On the highway between McGehee and Monticello, it is called "Dollar Hill". I have no idea why but it was always fun to drive over. When driving east, you would get that falling sensation going down into the flat lands. The faster you drove, the more of a roller coaster feeling.
