People from CA. are famous for moving to other states and trying to make their new place change to be like CA.
I would play along and make AR. fit their mind set. Complain about wearing shoes and ask where the out house is.

I probably would have as well, but our daughter is very PC and I am sure she let the gal know, if a very polite way, AR isn't just like people from other places view our state.

"Hmmmm So why do so many Cali people end up in Ark Just wondering"....

'cause they are moving back "home". Remember the Dust Bowl era? Heck, half of the population of SoCal from Bakerspatch south to LA originated in either OK or AR.

And after WW2 as well. A lot of the people living east of Los Angeles migrated from here and OK. That being said, my daughter did not take offense, she thought it was funny in a way and obviously they gal who made the statement isn't very educated on US geography and what different states have to offer. I think she got an idea after talking to our daughter. BTW, not to brag, cause that isn't the point, but the best part of this: my daughter took an early retirement from being a VP of a major corporation. Obviously she isn't just a little nothing that lives in a broken down shack in the hills somewhere.

Aside from family, this is exactly what I did upon my return from AR. I do NOT want some of these over grown teenagers with too much money coming round, not even for vacation!

Keep in mind, not all CA people started in CA. We came here for various reasons and in the end, never fit in. To this day, 16 years later, people look at me and ask where I am visiting from! I stuck out like a sore thumb from day one.

Thank God!

"To this day, 16 years later, people look at me and ask where I am visiting from"....that takes me back to the 70's....when I bought my farm in Searcy county from a couple who migrated from Chicago....25 years prior...he was a local real estate broker, she was a school teacher....and they were still considered "outsiders".

Three of my four grandparents are from Arkansas and there are more Californians than you can shake a stick at who have roots there (including cousins in North Hollywood, Stanton and Temecula). A good number of us are quite aware of Arkansas, both in NorCal and SoCal.

Oh, I am sure many do know what AR is like and many have friends or relatives here, but it is pretty common to talk to people from all over the west that have no clue what AR is like, heck it is not uncommon talk to people from anywhere who think everyone in AR is a hillbilly or a Redneck. That is ok, we know different and I would just as soon know those rednecks as deal with people who are arrogant. I guess one thing most people do know: Clinton is from AR.

I've met some pretty arrogant rednecks.
I'm assuming you mean Bill, I don't think Hillary is, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the younger millennials didn't
know that.

you are right, Bill was born and raised here in AR, Hillary is from Il, I think Chicago, but I am not positive. She certainly isn't the typical AR person.
