Although I am Mississippi-born-and-raised, the primary channel we watched until the mid-1980s was KATV from Little Rock. One reason was because Dad (dead seven years ago this day) wanted to see the weather forecast to tell what was headed our way. I would watch "Bozo" in the afternoon. I remember "kick the balloon in the barrel", "sponsored by Ideal Bread", and when a girl called "Bozo" (played by Gary Weir - I wonder if he's still living?) a "dumb funny man"! I also remember the cartoons with Butch and the bad guys "Big Shorty" and "Short Biggie". Dose were de days!

I think this is in Portuguese:

Bozo - Você é um saco de surpresa - YouTube

It took me about 10 seconds to find Gary Weir's current status - Welcome to GaryWeirRacing.com

I remember him and used one of his bits on my niece yesterday. We were talking about school and I asked "Do you walk to school or carry your lunch?" I got this blank stare back at me for about 3 seconds and then she continued talking about other things.

Oh yea I remember Bozo and enjoyed it even before our kids came along. I guess there was still some kid in me. I have also occasionally watched his racing show.

Not only do I remember, I attended his show. What a thrill for a 4-year-old to see Bozo live and in color! As an adult, I appreciate the fact that Gary is a very nice man.

If you're from Mississippi, you remember the Seale-Lily man who did the weather - his name escapes me. Quite a character...with interesting broadcasts. Sometimes a wee bit 'o the vine took his tongue

And how 'bout Brother Hal on radio . He'd spin records and shoot the bull. When he lost his contract with the radio station he bought the spot and recruited his own sponsors.
