Evidently you haven't read the entire thread, or maybe you missed my previous posts. I just knew that when I posted that I was proud of him I was going to have to explain. I am proud of him for taking a stand. He knew that when he started shooting that he would more than likely get shot at by police. He knew that he would propbably die that day. That takes guts in my book. Now, having said that I don't think that a blind man, or anybody for that matter, should be shooting haphazardly at anytime.

I hardly think I would go so far as to say, I am proud of him. We do not know if he was thinking straight or why he choose not to put down his gun and go peacefully. I happen to think, firing through a closed door is a very serious thing and yes, someone could have died, someone who was totally innocent of anything other than the wrong place at the wrong time. I just think it boils down to a very sad situation. and yes, I have read the article..

Wow, all the people here who know how to do it better, like set up a camera and such: go do the job of cop or SWAT team member yourselves. Put on your life on the line and then be judged by those who don't put their lives on the line everyday.

I have read this thread over the past few days and chose to remain silent until I read this reply and I must say it is spot on.

Ark. Man, 107, Spoke of Being Shot Before Standoff - ABC News

Pine Bluff made national news over this.

The man knew what he wanted, that's for sure.

The old guy was no dummy. He knew what he wanted and he knew what was going to happen. It wasn't the correct way, but it was his way. The police had no choice but to respond the way they did.
