Major reconstruction of the section where I-40 and I-55 share the route. They're digging up pavement 3 feed deep, re-doing bridge decking. Currently single lane both directions from approximately mm 275 to mm 279 (I-40 mile markers). Long lines of walking speed vehicles.

If traveling east on I-40, one option is get off at mm 271, and take US 70/79 thru downtown West Memphis, which eventually becomes I-55 and cross the Miss River on the I-55 (aka the "old" bridge).

If westbound from Memphis, the I-40 bridge will take you into this mess, so consider taking the I-55 bridge across the river.
