we will be spending 2 nights in Arkansas in about a week. One night in Little Rock and one night either in Hot Springs or the Fayetteville area. I like sightseeing and seafood. We already plan on going to the River Market. Also, whats a safe part of Little Rock to spend the night in?

go to clinton library. it's in river market area. there are a few decent hotels in the river market if you're planning on staying downtown. good food and restaurants in the heights/hillcrest area.
if i had to choose between hot springs or fayetteville, i would make the drive up to north arkansas. hot springs is cool for sure--especially if you like seafood. lots of decent restaurants on lake hamilton. good sight-seeing on central ave/bath house row. but if you go up towards fayetteville, the scenery is much, much better. you should definitely look into eureka springs--it's about a 45 minute drive from fayetteville. super cute artsy/tourist town. also, check out crystal bridges museum if you go up there.

if your dates include jan 10-12 in hot springs, then you can go to oaklawn race track for the opening of live racing season. there is also a casino at the track. we eat seafood at jahna's, luna bella, and j&s italian villa. the red lobster in hot springs is also the only chain we eat at in town.

gus's fried chicken in the river market is awesome. (but, just fried chicken) there is a marriott couryard in the river market that is convenient and a nice place to stay. (walk to all the downtown stuff) there is a flying fish next door to the courtyard and it is very good. there is a pf changs in west little rock that has a great sea bass, maybe one of the best.

enjoy your trip.
