Hotel Seville is pretty high on my list as is the Hotel Rhea in Walnut Ridge. I'm going to check out the Texarkana and Hardy suggestions, too.

Thanks again!

op, some weekend you might check out the hotel cazan in mamou, la. it is across the street from fred's lounge and that is worth the trip. just google the two places and plan your trip. (fred's is only open on sat mornings for a few hours with a cajun band that is so good, it has a live radio feed.)

Oh, ok....sorry, didn't know you were going to do the trip to AR in one day.

I appreciate the suggestions - I do think at the very least I will be driving through that area (NWA). Sounds HWY 7 is worth the extra time.

Quick follow-up from my trip. We ended up at the Hotel Seville in Harrison, AR. It was a very nice place, affordable and the staff was friendly. The place was renovated, but kept the old school boutique feel. The room itself was pretty standard hotel'ish.

I would have no problem staying there again.

Thanks for taking the time to report back on your trip.

I really enjoy following posts when someone is contemplating a trip and gives a report on it after he completes it .

If you take another trip through Arkansas one of the places a previous answer that was given was Hardy Arkansas. It's in the North Central area. And the bed and breakfast is nice but if you are looking more for a hotel we love the Spring River Lodge in Hardy. Also in addition to the great main street with all of it's attractions is the Corner Booth for a great breakfast

I was in Texarkana a couple of weeks ago. The big downtown hotel there is the Hotel Grim. It's closed, and they're still trying to figure out what to do with it. Looks like it would be a real nice place if it gets restored, but whether it would be profitable or not is the question.

Maybe a change of name would be in order as well.
