I never thought I'd see the day that the deep south Bible belt would allow marriage equality. What wonderful and interesting time we are living in.

Congratulations to all the newly weds!!

They are marrying same sex couples in Fayetteville and Little Rock today. The AG has requested a stay, so we'll see. But these folks are married.

I wonder if that lone judge was really making an impartial ruling.

It was stated on the internet that he has a lesbian daughter who is in a committed relationship with another woman.

True ?

We'll see how many judges refuse to "marry" these people.
And to think one person is responsible for all this!

I think if you took a popular vote in Arkansas, and everyone voted, it would not be allowed.

"States' rights" has gone to the dogs.

I think a slim majority of Arkansans would approve of civil unions for gays. I'm fairly certain I've seen a poll stating as such. The vote for this was taken in 2004, and public opinion has changed quite a bit since then all over the U.S.

Add Marion County to the list of counties which have issues same-sex marriage licenses now.

It seems free speech will bother some. Apparently, people don't have the freedom to not agree.

mod cutay people just want access to the same equal rights through marriage as everyone else. There's nothing special about them, they're just normal people like you and me. It's straight people who invented this "gay agenda" as if gays wanted something more than everyone else or some sort of special rights. They just want to be happy and left alone. If people aren't willing to give them that then they have every right to fight for it and I think it's great to see gays and lesbians standing up against bias and blind anger. If this is how many of these churches want to be known and seen in the 21st century then sadly that's their decision.

If we really want to be fair, then have marriages be completely a legal stance and then you can have whatever ceremony you want in a church. Marriage being a legal definition and its binding with religion is what created all this mess. Religion should be totally separate from anything to do with the law.

Anyway - congrats Arkansas, this is a wonderful thing to see!
