As the result of yesterday's ruling striking down the ban on same-sex marriage.

Gay people are getting married in Arkansas. Wow!

I was glad to hear it.

One of the women in the first marriage was from Fort Smith.

I have to admit, I have mixed feelings, but what I find interesting about this: OR, which is one of the most liberal states in the country does not recognized same sex marriage, AR, one of the most conservative now does. Go figure??????

While I don't have mixed feelings on this I agree about the states which ARE allowing it being interesting.
I never thought I would live to see gay marriage in Utah or Arkansas...very interesting indeed!

I had forgotten about Utah. Yes, that was a bigger shock than AR. As for mixed feelings; here is my take or my reasoning. I have always believed in equal rights for everyone, regardless. I believe in a legally binding relationship but I also have always believed marriage is one man and one woman joined together. So, this is where I have a problem.

And there will be even more marriage licenses on Monday morning in the 6 counties listed as defendants in the case since Judge Piazza has not issued a stay on his decision and may not be interested in doing so. Then, the Ark Supreme Court gets to decide. Hooray for Arkansas!

Good. I think gay people have the right to be as miserable in marriage as I was.

I expect there will be many more marriages in several counties. The judge could have issued a stay on the issue earlier. He may not do it even if there is an appeal. The attorney general in this case, Clint McDaniel, has publicly stated his support for gay marriage.

I say "yay" and yes I'm a bit surprised that it's now legal in Arkansas but not in Oregon.

If any two people love each other and want the commitment and legal staus etc. I could care less who they are - they're not bothering me one bit!
