No power for three days and two nights, and we were the fortunate ones! Our new gas fireplace log gave out no heat so it was replaced this past summer, and when taken out found it was not installed properly.

I've done tons of hiking since my last posts here, so I'll share a few of those with you all. All I really have are waterfall pics as they are all I have uploaded to photo sharing sites.

Thanks, bkern, makes me want to be there again!!

I have a picture of Eden Falls also, but with a person standing at the base for perspective. If I get industrious later, I'll find it and post it. It really brings out how awesome the falls are.

Arkansas is definitely underrated when it comes to waterfalls. Eden Falls is an amazing area. In the photo above, I was literally driving with the rain when I went to visited. I checked out Sweden Falls first, then went to Eden Falls next. After a heavy rain, it's nothing short of amazing. Water is coming down EVERYWHERE off the bluffs. The stairs headed up to eden cave was a waterfall in itself. Now that I have the waterfall guidebook, I plan to visit many many falls this Spring.

I don't know what it is about the Ozarks in Northern Arkansas, but I ALWAYS encounter fog on my hiking trip drives.

I'll do what I can. I'm not a fan of warmer weather and typically wont go hiking during that time, so with work and weather...I don't get many chances to get out.

Here are a couple of photos from our recent trip to Hot Springs.

The first one is the view off of Crystal Mountain on the Winona Scenic drive. That is Lake Winona in the distance, I believe. We found quite a few pieces of crystals and a couple of large broken rocks with crystals embedded in them. And there were many more scenic vistas on the way there....that Flatside Pinnacle is really cool...sort of like a scene from "Lost in Space" or something, when you first spot it.

Of course, we were there in early spring and the trees were not leafed out yet, so we were able to see more clearly off the tops of the mountains that you would in the summer or early fall. It was a really good time for us. Crystal Vista is only about halfway through the drive, but it was late in the day and we had to get back in time to get something to eat. I'd like to go back and hike up to the top of the Flatside Pinnacle.

The second one is at the koi pond in the Japanese Garden at Garvan Woodland Gardens. That is truly a beautiful place, and you can't beat the $10/person admission, considering all there is to see. We had stopped at a Welcome Center on the way in and found a booklet that had $1 off coupons for many attractions....we used them at the gardens and the tower. We could have stayed there all day, but we had limited time in Hot Springs and had other things we wanted to do.
