Johnson could get 10 more years in jail on gun and drug charges

So this guy slaughters five people in 1998, was released from jail a scant eight years later, and somehow manages to get weapons and pot despite being a notorious felon - how and why was this allowed to happen? Why wasn't he tried as an adult to begin with, which would have meant a possible sentence of life without parole for the five murders?

All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE. How do these kids get out of jail???????? Maybe now they will realize that this guy cannot be rehabilitated and put his sorry a@@ in jail for the rest of his worthless life.

I'd also say that anyone who gave this convicted mass murderer access to firearms should be jailed for a long time, too.

I agree with you there, the law needs to start going after the people who allow someone like this to get their weapon.

yes, I am a Minneesotan and I remember it well from the news.

What I also remember was the program NIGHTLINE (some time later) that turned into a huge embarrassment for Ted Koppel.

Ted Koppel returned to Jonesboro and had his tv program from there dealing with how the victims had suffered and how their lives had been affected as they moved forward.
It was very hard to watch,to see how the families had dealt with losing their loved one.

However, Ted Koppel had ulterior motives for his nationwide tv show. Unknown to the victim's families, Koppel had the mother of the shooter present abd wanted her to speak . My guess is he wanted everyone to hug and then the "great" Ted Koppel would be viewed as the one who brough closure and love and forgiveness to all.

It didn't work out that way ! The victim's next of kin were furious that Ted Koppel never informed them that the mother of the shooter would be there and felt betrayed by Ted Koppel and NIGHTLINE.

Anyone remember seeing that on tv ?

(I took it that Ted Koppel tried to promote himself and his agenda by inviting the victims' family under false pretense)

Default Shame, some will never learn....

At least Mike Huckabee want be blamed for this one getting out! Guess we can pass more taxes and build more jails to hold them all. Maybe Amercia should adopt Iraq's punishment system then some of the child killers and molesters would slowly diminish. Seems to work in Iraq.
