To move this off the subject of bed bugs, it is interesting to see how a visit to a location can change perspectives. As we passed thru Flippin, DW spent the next hour joking about the name Flippin. Now, after a visit and a few days to think about the reality of the small town environment with positive industry and a local Walmart, she wants to go back and spend more time checking the area out.

Our trip next Spring will focus on Flippin and to the east of Flippin (south of MH), Harrison/Berryville which we did not get to see, and south from Eureka Springs in proximity to Beaver Lake.

I for one, can't wait to return. Thanks to you folks for following along and offering input. I am sure I could be happy in AR. We are zooming in to this area and the northeast of KY. In reality, both are similar. Especially in the areas we have been attracted to.

We have a lot of pretty funny town names here in AR. In fact I think a few years ago we had a tread about the funny names of towns here.

Op, I spent some time in Louisville and Lexington, and I really liked the Lexington area best. All my trips to Kentucky were horse racing related, so I really fell in love with the beautiful horse farms around Lexington. I have driven and flown in to the area and it is just as beautiful from the air as it is on the ground. I can see you fascination with north ark and northeast Kentucky. They are both beautiful. Good luck as you search.

I don't hold this against Petit Jean. It was a top notch facility and I recommend everyone visit.
I was following this thread and just had to go up there after I read it. We stayed in Conway Saturday night and then went up onto Petit Jean Mountain the next morning after it had rained. That view from the grave site is one of the most spectacular I've ever seen. The hills had plumes of fog laying on them and the river was just massive. You could even hear the cows mooing in the valley hundreds of feet below. I literally could have stood there and looked at that vista all day. We drove by the Mather Lodge afterward but didn't get to look around as I had to get back to TX to be at work tonight, but would love to explore that area further.

Another amazing revelation from The Natural State! They seem to be endless!

Yep, the Petit Jean State Park is great. It's also close to Mt. Nebo SP and also Mt. Magazine SP. You can stay at one and easily make day trips to the others. No lodge at Nebo, only cabins, but they're great...many of them sit right on the rim of the flat-topped mountain. I love all three of those places.

When you go back you'll want to see the waterfall too.
