Just curious about tornado insurance? Is damage from a twister covered on your homeowners insurance or is there a separate endorsement available?

I know there is earthquake insurance and flood insurance, how about tornado?

We had damage from the Joplin tornado about 6 years ago: our insurance paid for some painting and a new roof. Mostly the damage was hail. We do not have tornado insurance and have never had our agent mention it. That is all I know.

Check your policy. Most homeowner's insurance covers tornado damage automatically. A tornado is hell if it hits you, but unlike hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes, a tornado is comparatively "selective" in how much area it damages, so the statistical risk that you will get hit is much less.

I believe nearly every homeowners policy covers tornados.

Years back homeowners policies used to be called............" fire and wind"...because that basically was all they covered and was all you needed.

Thanks Guys, I will read my policy to see what it says about wind.

We are thinking about changing the scenery and trying to learn all we can.

10-4 to all the above. For roof hail damage, they will depreciate for the age of the roof.

That's normally only if you take the money and don't get it fixed. I inspect home damages/repairs, and in every instance I can recall, once the homeowner got all the repairs finished, the insurance company paid the full replacement cost (less deductible).

Do you mean in Arkansas? If so, the price can vary depending on location but I think it's very inexpensive. From what I see in the real estate biz, most average 3/2 homes are about 1000-1200 per year in my area.
