I am relocating to Camden, Arkansas in a few weeks. Let me preface by saying that it is a temporary living situation- I took a one year rotational job in Camden and will be there throughout 2007. I wanted to get as much information as I can about the area including:

Stores? I know there's only a Wal-Mart but anything else I should know about?
Food- best places to eat? Best places in vicinity to eat?
Living situation- where are the best apartment complexes? I heard Jefferson Terrace- but does anyone know anything about other apartment complexes in the area?
Crime rate- is it high? Should I be scared?
Churches- any recommendations?
Things to do on a weekend??? I'm open to driving- any nice areas to visit during my year in Arkansas?
Best of: if there is a best of in Camden- what is it?

As you can tell i'm a little nervous about the move to Camden. Any information anyone can provide would be much appreciated. And don't butter it up. I want positive and negative info...just info all around. Please be honest.
Thanks!

Jefferson Terrace is probably your best best for apartment living. All the other apartments are close to rental housing. Crime is probably the same in Camden as in everywhere else these days. Fajita Hill has good food downtown. They could stand to fix the place up alittle. Wood's has great catfish. El Dorado 30 miles away has a few great places to eat and a neat downtown area. There is a neat museum at Smackover between Camden and El Dorado, the Oil and Brine Museum. Neat history lessons on past oil history of the area. Arkansas has the only diamond mine that allows vistor's to dig for diamonds which is 1 1/2 hour drive from Camden. There is a nice little park with a small lake and hiking trails between Camden and Magnolia. Hot Springs is 2 hours away and so is Little Rock. Just alot of neat places to go if you don't mind driving alittle if you get bored around Camden. Hope this helps. Check out the website for Arkansas State Parks and Tourism.
