I have been there several times, so i have saw it when it was a nice place and to how it is now.
BTW..................do you live there or close to there at the chicken farms?
They stink too.
I am just forewarning people who rather read some advise first instead of blowing gas money to a run down city.
I guess they could go to Branson so it would not be a total waste.
Branson and Springfield Missouri is a much better area with good doctors.
I live near Eureka Springs. It's not a ghost town, and during the season it's still quite packed, full of stores, and almost every weekend there are events planned.

Plus you'll get called to Yooper .

The movie Escanaba in da Moonlight show cased a Yooper pretty good. I'm from Wisconsin, so we get our share of stick poking also. You try walking into a job in the deep roots of Arkansas and have your northern accent. Lots of fun stick poking that happens, but it goes both ways.

As long as you love where you live.

As a Wisconsin person might say....

"Oh yeah sure you betcha!" (I've never said that, but I've heard it said).

I lived there for 40 years and will not go back.
Replace cold with hot, less snow and more tornadoes, and you just described Arkansas for many.

you said it before I could post. What a bunch of bull; I don't know where she is getting her information but it is crazy. Even the part about a decent doctor: Holy Cow, Eureka Springs is only a short drive from so many good doctors in NWA.

We are not black..but i thought i would give someone the heads up on that.
most people know Harrison is the KKK headquarters, but are you aware they only have a few hundred members all around the country now. They are simply a horrible night mare from years gone by. I think, for whatever reason you have a chip on your shoulder so are blowing everything out of proportion. As for medical care, most of the NWA area which takes in Eureka Springs has very good medical facilities and yes, they take all type of patience and no, doctors do not hold back filling forms most of the time.

I was wondering have you decided to move out of Arkansas? I was in Fayetteville for two years and decided to move to Michigan. No offense but Arkansas isn't exactly the most progressive of states.

California / New York are a couple of states rated progressive . I've lived in both and it seems adding more spectrums of life
style goes with the territory. So, depending on how you're wired, I suppose that's ok. But you mentioned Michigan and that radical religious sector in (south MI) that doesn't want women to drive and condones stoning isn't exactly progressive. That's more like going back to the dark ages..

more tornadoes yes, but many not at all. We have lived here now for 10 years, have yet to see anything resembling one. The closest was sever wind damage from the Joplin tornado about 7 years ago. There have been a few in the state since we moved here that have caused some damage but not many. this isn't OK or Northern Texas.
