There was a story about this on the local television news here in the Houston metro.

Officer Carr graduated from The Woodlands High School here and played on the varsity football team in his junior and senior years. His coach is now at another high school in the district. His coach was interviewed by phone for the story. Besides living here and playing football here, Officer Carr’s father is a retired Houston Police Officer who retired at the rank of Sargent. The reporter noted that his father was on his way to Fayetteville to make arrangements for his son.

My heart goes out to the Carr family.

I am horrified too, with no connection to Fayetteville except jim9251 but every time a first responder is attacked is appalling.

I don't know all details with us living in California but it was on all the local news stations and all the major networks as well.

My take is, well, take it with a grain of salt.

Sometimes a guy who never hurt a fly gets dressed, loads all his guns, leaves his place with the intention of shooting an officer, shoot up a school, rob a bank, and so fort.

It could happen, chances are maybe one tenth of a one percent. The others usually have a long criminal history and proven anti social behavior. Finally, when the murder spree erupts it is usually the catastrophic end to a long violent life.

And now I sit here, 2,000 miles away and asking: was there anything indicating that the shooter was a threat to society, and how come he wasn't arrested/prosecuted, imprisoned before the poor officer lost his life ?

There's been little so far in local news about the shooter. Here's one report:

Officer Carr's funeral was today, here's a link to the service. I've seen photos of Fayetteville, the entire city bathed in blue light.

Never the good. Hardly ever hear of police spending time with at risk kids, playing basketball, in the street, IN UNIFORM. Yes, that makes the headlines, but negatively rules the roost, so to speak.

I can go on, but we all know what is what. Sadly, people die just doing their jobs. And sadly, the crooked cops are the roots of most problems about why so much hatred towards all cops.
I call BS on this nonsense.

Sorry Grampa, but why do you say that? It's been known-and proven that crooked cops set a sour tone. There's tons of videos on YouTube that supports this.

Admin please close this thread. I do NOT want it turned into a political discussion. It was about a young rookie hometown officer.

I was absolutely shocked to learn that the officer had been shot ten times in the head. It made me wonder if they knew each other.
