Texan here thinking of moving to Arkansas. I’ve heard Arkansas isn’t very welcome of outsiders. Any opinions/comments welcome!

Maybe go to Texarkana and poke around a little on the Arkansas side, see what happens.

Welcome to the AR forum of City Data Forums, you are in good company, and have come to the right place, asking about this topic.

Coming from Lubbock TX, you will find the humidity less welcoming than the people.

Just exactly what you consider cliquish will make a difference. I noticed Searcy came up in other posts.

Searcy is a great little city for conservatives who follow Church of Christ teachings, but probably not so great if you are a Socialist and follow Pagan beliefs.

If you are neither of those, and can ignore the political and religious leanings of those around you, learn the ways of the locals and don't try to change the way they do things, then pretty much anywhere in AR is going to be good.

My mistake. The state as a whole is welcoming.
I had this post confused with one that asked "what town" would be good.

When we visited AR, we spent some time in the Yellville area. Found the folks to be very family oriented and the best of the best as far as going out of their way to help us out. That was the response to a couple of Yanks from central illinois.

You can get friendly or unfriendly neighbors anywhere. You will often have better luck moving into areas that have other transplants. Some areas do kind of get cliquish especially if they are surrounded by family or that best friend they've known since they were born. A majority of Arkansans are very friendly. Some will go out of their way to help you and others. You will have to watch out for other people.

That was kinda the response my handyman got. He is from Houston, and says this place is night and day different from there

we moved from DFW area 14 yrs ago and have never had a problem, pace of life is much slower and as others have said you will always find those who are just rude and do not like anyone, but have never felt unwelcomed.

It depends. We're polite but don't expect to be accepted.
