I went to school at Newark and all the people i met were pretty exceptional, but every time i say something about it i get told down like i don't know what im talking about. I grew up in Independence county and always heard how bad is was east of it, but everyone at the same time is in denial. Is it really bad (as far in druggies, etc.) or am i just some hater?

There are some druggies, any where you go, and it is always a little worse in economically depressed areas (thus part of the reason we didn't completely shut the state down for the epidemic, and are looking forward to reopening it quickly) and that has always been an economically depress area, but I haven't heard anything really spectacular about that area.

I have family in that area, and it isn't really great, but I don't know how bad you are being told it is. I have been told that things get much worse, as you go south from there.

There are a lot of great things about small towns in areas like Independence county that you lose, as you go towards the MS river, so it isn't going to compare with Newark. Just the same, I don't think there is any reason to be hating on it.

You want to discuss anything in particular?

i grew up in arkansas county. i was a kid in the 70s-80s. i saw the tail end of the good ole days, mid 80s farming went down and the entire delta (east ar) went down the crapper. i remember mid 90s all the places out of business in dewitt, plywood on old store fronts, but things are better now. i live at vilonia now, i go back home a few times a year and the town looks a lot better.

i remember working in harisburg (jonesboro area) mid 90s and every store on the square was out of business. very sad.
