Thanks for sharing, that's interesting.

Today has been silent for the first time in a week.

Are we bombing anywhere? I haven't watched much news lately. I haven't lived in Arkansas for several years. We used to see unusual air activity before something major would happen in another country.

I thought sonic booms were not allowed over land in the US? Many years ago ( 1963 ?) , a man was killed when he was working under a wooden cabin in the Sacramento Mts. of New Mexico when a jet from Holloman AFB made a sonic boom and made the cabin collapse under him. I was a kid but it made an impression on me.

They are not supposed to do anything that will cause them, but they did. Some family in south LA said they had similar experiences last year. Several towns reported it. I remember the shuttle causing a sonic boom once when re-entering the atmosphere about 25 years ago.

The jets have started up again today. They must have had the weekend off.

Air Force Reserve? They get the weekends off.

No, we are not bombing anyone, and we probably won't, in the next couple months.

The Shuttle makes a sonic boom every time it re-enters.
They make an exception for it.
Otherwise, they have to file a report, every time they create a sonic boom, and it is dealt with about the same as a minor (less than $1million) accident. A pilot can lose his license over that.

We don't know you, and you haven't even filled out your profile.

Really. Which models of Buff are you familiar with, and how did you get to know them?
How many minutes do you think they run their water injection systems (which give them their unmistakable sound) after they take off. Seems to me, Holly is a bit too far north to hear that sound.

Unless you are an ATC, or flight planner, or nav, I don't see how you think you "know" this.

That is quite a ways from Barksdale. How many B52's do you have, there?

It ain't practice....it's for real recon and these aircraft are fully loaded hence the thrust and noise at all times of day and night.

Believe me.
I'm quite a ways away from Barksdale AFB and the noise seems to have been focused more above my area, so why not all the miles between here and Barksdale? Same with what I said about south LA, that is a long distance from Barksdale too.
