Having coffee at the computer this morning here in Minnesota. Can you tell I miss my beautiful Arkansas?

At a family get together yesterday we were talking about the season: only 6 plus weeks before the first game. Of course 2 of the family are OU grads, so they don't really care much either way. At least OU isn't in our conference which certainly is a good thing. Our OU fans do tailgate with us though and are nice about our loyalty to U of A.

and btw for those who do not know: the coach and his wife welcomed their little girl into the world Saturday.

Not complaining but this cooler weather is bizarre. Today, August 1st, we didn't get above 70 all day. I have a weather station. About 30 minutes ago, I was doing some things in my garden and caught a chill cause I was in shorts.

Next week, we dont get any higher than the 70's every day, and Friday night, the forecast says a low of 53.

We had a total of 3 weeks of *hotter* weather this whole summer.

Did anyone see a guy with no shirt and a pointy red hat wandering around north eastern Arkansas earlier this month?

According to Garrett on our local news, there is a damn good change we will have no real summer this season. Starting in about 10 days, normally the temps start to drop. I am loving it, but it has affected the garden somewhat. We just are not getting the fresh produce in abundance like we usually get. I also have to wonder if we are headed for an early fall and cold winter? It is about time. We haven't had a cold winter for about 3 or 4 years.

I'm thinking this too. The seasons this year have been opposite of last years, intense Spring with heavy rain, mild summer, so likely fall and winter could be different too since last year was a late fall and milder winter.

I'd say I should stock up on extra firewood.

I have found a great HONEST Web Site. Hearthstone Legacy Publications www.hearthstoneLegacy.com. They publish CDs of historical and genealogical data with good information. In the past I have carelessly ordered two items from other vendors when I thought I was ordering one, and the vendor sent two. I did that with H.L.P. but instead of sending two they emailed and asked if that was my intent, or a mistake. When I told them it was a mistake they immediately gave me credit for the second one, and in two days I had my CDs. I'm impressed!
