My garden isn't even in yet. I am such a slacker.

ok, the garden is in: The mulch is spread and I am starting to see signs of spring. I have decided, next year I am going to play Michelle Obama. I will have the gardeners prepare the garden, spread the top soil, even, probably do a lot of the planting. Then, a few months later, I can say: look my garden is growing. There is one small problem, I don't have a gardening team like the White House, in fact I don't have a gardener...

do

nope, but we do have a wonderful but small teen group at our church. They have done work for others and use the money wisely. I am pretty sure we are going to use them to rake the leaves this fall.

That is one of the bad parts of living in a retirement area, fewer kids to enjoy, that is if you do enjoy the younger citizens. IMO

The Springfield, Mo. weather forecaster said on the 6 p.m. news that if this next cold spell brings any snow flakes to Arkansas it would be the first time in May in recorded history. His statement!

Blame it on global cooling ........... IMO

Snow in May - I've been called a liar about this, but in a June morning in the mid 1970s I happened to look out my office window (in Little Rock) and huge snow flakes were coming down like goose feathers. It lasted about five minutes and was over, but it lasted long enough to get others to the windows to see.

I am sure you did see one, when we have too much to drink the night before, we see all kinds of things. Only kidding of course, what you saw, was like our seeing a few flurries in June while on a cruise to Alaska several years ago. Only my son in law and I saw them, to this day, everyone thinks we were crazy.

I can't believe what is happening here though. Tomorrow we are heading to the casino for some KY Oaks betting. We don't want to fight the KY Derby crowd so we like to enjoy a little fun the day before the big race. We only do this a couple times a year. I thought I would have fun, dressed in my new summer clothes, instead I have to big out the darn sweat shirts again.

Actually Bella Vista is rapidly changing and is not really a retirement community anymore.. We have kids on our block and one family of teens just moved a couple weeks ago. The problem, so many of the young kids don't really want to do too much work anymore. I will give the family on our corner credit. They moved, from CA. to here about 4 years ago. They wanted a better environment for raising the kids. Every evening the kids are out riding their bikes. You see them raking leaves and mowing the yard often and they spend time shooting baskets, helping their dad bar-b-cue during the spring and summer and they are very friendly. I do think they are a little young to do yard work for neighbors.
