i have always lived in pine bluff. now i want out. my husband works for the railroad so we have to go somewhere in his "hub" so he doesnt lose his senoirity. we are talking about bryant, benton, bauxite, on up to newport, jonesboro, paragould and that way. the end of the line is dexter mo but ive heard too much and dont want to live there either.

i have 3 girls ages 15, 10 and 3, so i am looking at daycare and all through school. i want something close to town but with a little elbow room.

can anybody tell me anything about these places ive mentioned? ive searched the demographics but i want opinions of the schools, the area, the good and bad neighborhoods, etc.

any info will be appreciated....

The only one of those I wouldn't bother looking into would be Newport. You would be a good 40+ minutes from any town of significant size...unless that is what you are looking for.

Jonesboro has good schools and I have never heard anything bad about Paragould's schools. Pretty much any neighborhood in Jonesboro is OK (especially south of the bypass) until you get real close to the university and Johnson Ave. It can get scary quick. Just stay away from big apartment complexes to avoid college kids if you so desire.

Paragould is kind of spotty...I can't really think of any one area to just avoid altogether. If I was looking for a house in Paragould I guess I would stay away from East Kingshighway in general, but I know people who live around E.Kingshighway without any worries. I actually like Paragould quite a bit for some odd reason. It is about half the size of Jonesboro and therefore doesn't have all the things Jonesboro does, but it is a wet county...which I enjoy...

Other people on the forum typically have good things to say about Bryant, Bauxite, and Benton and they are obviously very close to Little Rock.

I'd take Jonesboro over Paragould, though I don't care for either one. Jonesboro isn't quite as hokey, dirty, and convoluted as Paragould.
They both look impressive compared to Pine Bluff, though.

Bryant is the best of the areas you mentioned to me. Clean, safe, good schools and it's growing rapidly and new large developments have sprung up so you don't have to go to Little Rock for things like Best Buy, Target, etc. You are still 15 min from West LR, though, and that gives you access to a lot of other conveniences.

In NEA Jonesboro is a nice town and it's growing.
