Times New Roman][SIZE=3]I am being sued for a hospital bill by a hospital that is state run. My problem is every year the hospital that is suing me gets my state income tax. Can they still sue me?

It depends on how much you owe them and how much they are getting. Of course they can sue you if you owe them money.

You probably need to work out a pay schedule guaranteeing them X number of $$s per month or year.

Yes you can be sued by a state run hospital. Like nmnita said, try to work out a plan with the hospital so you can pay your bills.

This is a good recommendation. Your tax dollars likely pay a very (very) small amount of that hospital's cost to provide your care and obviously you have an obligation to pay for that. Just because something is at least partly taxpayer supported doesn't mean they don't have a right to collect what you owe them. Colleges, back taxes, hospitals, etc... it's all the same. Definitely contact the hospital and try to get a payment schedule worked out (they'll often be willing to agree to very low monthly payments that fit your budget- they aren't trying to bankrupt you but they can't let non-paying patients run them into the ground either), and hopefully an arrangement can be worked out that keeps this off any permanent records.
