I know it's a beautiful area. I was just wondering if it was a good vacation/camping area.What is the landscape and animals like? Is it a dangerous area? What is there to do??

Lots of good camping, fishing and wildlife and yes, it is safe. Look into Beaver Lake for starters..

Well, "the Ozarks" is a big place, with lots of different landscapes....mountains, valleys, clear creeks and rivers, rolling hills and farmland.....absolutely beautiful at every turn. Is it a dangerous area?
No. Well, if you're not careful, I guess you could fall off a rock or a bluff, but that's never happened to any of our family in the 40 or so years we've been going there...even with small children. What is there to do??

Go to www.arkansas.com and click on the "Ozarks" region, and you will be positively overwhelmed at all the choices for camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, swimming, and even for attractions like museums, amusement parks, fun kids' stuff, etc. Have fun choosing what to do!

I'd say that if you cant find something to do in the Ozarks or even the Ouachitas then you may want to take up knitting and stay home!

I agree. The Ozarks are beautiful, teeming with wildlife and full of lakes, rivers and streams.

What is the difference between the Ozarks and Ouachitas? Also, some consider a small part of Southern Illinois part of the Ozarks (this seems rediculous - clear across Mississippi from Missouri Ozarks and is probably closer to Western Ky. and Western Indiana than most of the Ozarks). Any one for this?

What is the landscape and animals like? Well, "the Ozarks" is a big place, with lots of different landscapes....mountains, valleys, clear creeks and rivers, rolling hills and farmland.....absolutely beautiful at every turn. Is it a dangerous area? No. Well, if you're not careful, I guess you could fall off a rock or a bluff, but that's never happened to any of our family in the 40 or so years we've been going there...even with small children.
