Matching all 5 number but not the powerball pays $200,000.
Last night a Minnesotan had the 5 numbers and won $200,000. If he had bought the $2 ticket, he would have won $600,000 as the multiplier was 3.
guess I will send hubby out tomorrow, when he buys our weekly wine ration I will tell him to buy a $2 ticket. Not that we ever get even 1 number, but who knows. I could use a few hundred right now...I know the rest of you don't need it, so if you do win, think of me...

Now that I'm thinking about it, spending $2 on a ticket, wouldn't be bad alot all. Even $200,000 will help me alot. May not be alot of money, heck, who needs millions anyways? Guess I could be thinking outside the box. Although Casinos, you will have better chances of winning couple hundreds of dollars each once in awhile. Which won't get to too far these days, but it will help you somewhat.

Even playing $2 on a ticket a week or $3, guess it will alot cheaper than casinos. Just imagine winning $200,000-$900,000. I'll buy a $2 ticket. Couldn't hurt, right.

Sorry about what I've said in my post before this, I wasn't thinking outside the box.

For those not familiar with the Powerball, here is what they pay even if you don'twin the " big one"-----

$3-----matching the Powerball#
$4-----matching 1# and Powerball#
$7-----matching 2# and Powerball#
$7-----matching 3#
$100--matching 3# and Powerball#
$100--matching 4#
$10,000-matching 4# and Powerball #
$200,000 matching 5 numbers

Thus the $2 ticket would multiply all those by anywhere from 2-5

Yeah, when I was in Georgia some people would not start playing until it was over 100 million. I guess 99 million is just not enough.

I played the lottery every week. $1.00. It was fun to think what I would do with the money. I never thought I would actually win, but for $1.00 it was worth the fun.

We all need to have some fun, even when things are tight and stress gets in the way. I left all my problems behind me, although they will always be there. Life is a highway. Just leave your foot off the gas pedal and coast. Can we have fun with the lottery, even with what money we don't have?

When playing $1-$5 a week on tickets, what's the harm? Even when playing those rates, your not addicted to gambling. Sounds like gambling, with the economy the way it is, we all need a CHANCE. Winning will help us all out with financial problems. Of course, winning isn't everything.

Let's try to chat alittle more about this, we all have different opinons.

we certaintly do not play every week, mainly cause we simply forget, but like you, we know we probably will not win, but it is fun.

The Powerball lottery in NC goes to help the state school system which is appropriate since the lottery is for people who cannot do math.
The odds of a particular combination on a ticket when you pick it or have the computer pick it is 1 in 195,249,054. The odds of the balls falling in any particular set is also 1 in 195,249,054. So the chance of someone winning is 1 in 195,249,054. Unfortunately, the odds of yours being the one are
1 : 38,122,193,087,894,900, the product of the two chances.

But if you buy the $2 ticket, you also have odds of 1 in 61 that you will win back 3 times, 4 1/2 times, 6 times, or 7 1/2 times your investment.

No winner last might so Wednesday's drawing is for 245 million ( cash option 122.6 million )

Default A player's point of view

As a long time lottery player, I can tell you that I wish I never started buying tickets. Don't listen to the "odds are that..." because the logic people use is convoluted. Look at the small number of jackpots each year that are won compared to the number of players. PB starts at $20 million is now $245 million because, even with 30 states betting, nobody seems to be able to pick the winning numbers. So what does that tell you? Then people say that buying more tickets increases your odds. Yes, that's true, but by how much? PB odds are 1 in 195,249,054. So let's say you and all your friends & relatives dig into your savings and, although you know it's stupid, you decide to take a chance and spend $249,000 on tickets one week. Yes, almost 1/4 of a million bucks. There's still a chance that 195,000,054 other combinations will be drawn.

Just trying to warn anyone who fantasizes about winning a big jackpot. Sure, the slogan "you can't win if you don't play" is true. But I've been playing the lottery for over 30 years and haven't won more than $100 here and there. The reason I suggest buying quick picks, if you do decide to play, is so you can just toss the ticket away. If you play birthdays or special numbers, then you get "hooked" on playing them every week just in case that one time your numbers come up and you didn't play them. (I'm sure we've all heard that story before.)

The Florida Lotto odds are "only" 1 in 22,957,480. I don't personally know anyone who has won the jackpot. Does this mean I have no friends at all? Maybe, but it really means there are 18 million people living here and in 20 years there have probably been about 200 winners. (10 or less per year)

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in, but I wish everyone a lot of luck!
