We are planning on "tent" camping when the weather gets cooler. We've camped at Shady Lake and camped close to a stream once and would like to find others places in Arkansas where we could be close to a stream, fish and be close to a lake. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We love the mountain areas in Arkansas......

You can camp by the Little Red river and fish there. This is also by the Greers Ferry lake.

My suggestion: Don't get eaten by a bear.

I would imagine that the Buffalo River has some camping spots along the river. That would be a nice place to camp and fish.

The Sylamore area is nice. Fish the White river, and Mountain View is a quick hop to the south.

Blanchard Springs has a large camping area also.

What about the Spring River/Hardy area? I recall that you could canoe down the river, and there were a lot of trout fishers.

Yep. Good trout fishing on Spring River around Hardy, and tons of places to camp with a tent.

More than enough in the area to entertain, and Mammoth Springs & Thayer are a short trip up the road.
