Maybe we should all do some dancing/praying for rain and cooler temps

I'm in! The kids (three toddlers!) and me are getting stir crazy in the house- it is too hot to go out even in the mornings! Chick-fil-A with its indoor playground is one of the few non-home options we still have. We pray for rain every night as part of bedtime prayers. If you have any rain dance suggestions, let's hear them!

Our Central AC started having issues yesterday (think the compressor is going out, but its under warranty) so we have been sequestered to our bedroom where we have a window unit.

I think that is my biggest fear: the A/C going out in the summer or the heat in the winter. I think we are still under warenty as well but think I will check to make sure.

Dan Skoff of KNWA tried that on air already. It went from serious flooding in April and May to the annual Arkansas drought very quickly. This historical heat wave makes this yearly summer drought much more serious than most.

Drought or not, we are so lucky compared to Texas and OK. I am thankful we live where we do right now. Oh sure, I gripe daily or more like hourly, but then I talked to the kids and I realize it could be worse. At least about every 10 days, here in the northern corner or the state we are getting a few drops of water. My garden, though not as good as soom years is making it. The grass, that is another thing. My heart goes out to fhe farmers who depend on the crops for their livelyhood. I just got up and looked outside, there actually is a breeze, now is it a hot or cool one I am not going to open the door to find out. The temp right now is 84 in BV and 90 in Dallas.

After 2 years in NWA, I couldn't take the summers anymore. I don't know how you southerners do it, and NWA is still not nearly as bad as OK and TX! I remember last summer Poteau, OK had a temp of 105 with a heat index of 124!

It is all relavent: this year, I can assure you many places in Texas, OK and yes, here, have had heat indexes that high, but most years it isn't nearly this hot and the positives outweigh the negatives for some of us. Of course if you have lived in Houston or even Dallas you don't think it is all that bad here, if you have spent your life in New England you would wilt in our heat, at least at first. We have lived in NO VA, all throughout CA, NM, and Texas before here. With the exception of NM all had summer heat problems.

Our AC is starting to falter too, but the system is as old as the house (almost 4 decades) so no warranty.

For days we have had threatening-looking clouds, thunder & lightning, but only a little dribble here and there. At least the clouds seem to keep the heat down.
