I have no idea where that subdivision is, what street is the house on?

In general the west side of the village is older, the east side newer with bigger homes. We live on the west side, about three miles in from the west gate. Most of your needs can be met by the businesses outside the west gate, outside the east gate has very little retail. Even less now that the grocery store on the east side has closed.

We have been here three years and enjoy it. I like to fish, my wife likes to golf, so we have both of those covered here.

I would recommend that you make a trip here and look at a lot of different homes before you decide. We were lucky to find a house at the end of a dead end road with no neighbors, just us out in the woods.

sounds so much like where we live only HSV instead of BV. We do not live where there are no houses, but we only have a few; none across the street, none on either side of us and only 1 house on the street behind us. Our lot is open to that street. Our little dog can run outside without a fence, she doesn't really go far and the few neighbors we have know her. Yes, the privacy is wonderful. Now that we are older we, sometimes are sorry we didn't buy a little closer to the retail stores, etc.

Your advise to the person who is wondering about a certain sub division is perfect. To that person, if HSV us like BV and I think it is; there is never a reason to be bored. Just get involved in a few activities and learn to love watching the wildlife when you are at home.

nmnita: as I sit in the suburban areas of Houston, that are more urban anyway, I wanted to cry reading that last paragraph of yours. We are headed for an initial tour during the Thanksgiving week- then again for a week in March. We must set up home camp fora year or so in Fort Smith, and then we can spend the weekends looking for the exact spot to call home for the long term. I love this site because I can get the feel of places to run through and kind of an idea of what to expect.

We lived in the Dallas area for 13 years and don't miss it one bit. There are a few small things I miss, but living here is worth a few inconveniences. We started our exploring the area by spending a couple nights in FT Smith and then headed up here and over to Grove, OK. It was also a truly nice place, but I am so glad we choose here. Our daughter and son in law who also live here now asked me one day, if we ever get tired of watching the birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer, etc. I said; NOPE!!!

We are looking at the Thanksgiving week in the areas marked on the map that hopefully loaded. On paper, I love the area to the south and east of Fayetteville, and the area along the Arkansas River around Russelville.
We first thought of settling in Eastern Tennessee, but thought that was too far from the grandkids. Still want the mountain views and some acreage to hide on. Spring Break trip has to be for setting up camp in Fort Smith for a year or so, and the weekends will be used for really getting to know all of the areas.

I see you have a heart on the area near Hardy/Cherokee Village.
I moved to Cherokee Village four years ago ( from Minnesota) and love it !

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the area and if you ever decide to check it out, let me know and I will give you a guided tour of the area.

David: we will keep that in mind. We really liked the pictures of the area, but it could be a late draft choice. My wife has a strong addiction to either Sams Club or Costco. 60 miles from a Sams could give her the shakes...
