You can't vote unless you're a member of the Communist Party, which you have to be invited to join in. It's not declaring a party in the states.
I asked a few of my students if they would like to vote for their leaders. The idea scares them. Basically they think the people are too stupid to be able to choose their own leaders.
LOL, very wise students if you ask me. I would agree that about 70% of the people in the USA shouldn't vote and it should only be ones who can form critical thoughts and plan should be able to vote AND be elected.
But alas, we do live in a "liberated" society.
On the other extreme is China, though. Artists should be able to create. Criticism of the government by luminaries should exist. Original thoughts should exist. So long as China refuses to open its mind, like its borders, then it will languish in the high tech, original thought world, and the US will simply continue pressing ahead. Manufacturing? Bah, who needs it? Even with a manufacturing base that's been decimated, we "only" have 10% unemployment. The rest are too busy managing the world or inventing the next things. China is too busy copying.
ANYWAY, back on topic ...
I do not agree that the US would want a North Korea like this. The sooner that regime is gone, the happier US and Korean corporations would be to step in and "help" the country. At least they wouldn't be starving en masse anymore, hopefully.
China and Japan wants stability more than anything. A shift in the region towards peace by removing the regime would only help.
