Our current administration is extremely close to GE so I don't expect them to face any responsibility for any flaws in their reactors. If anything our government will bail GE out courtesy of the US taxpayers.
But Japan ultimately will have to take the blame for this going out of control. They had better means of dealing with potential problems like this and they didn't use them.

I think they are handling this exceptionally well. I am unsure if our western media outlets are however.

It's just such a big thing and once people here the words 'radiation' and 'leaks' in the same sentence people want to know what is happening and the media is the only way of providing this and we tend to believe what they say.

For the worse, usually.

I've seen news media outlets frantically trying to find folks who have ANY degree saying that they are worried about the big, bad radioactive plume reaching the US. I think they can all agree that the situation in Japan is dire. That's where the attention should be focused.

But the Western news outlets are causing such hysteria and overblowing the threat that it's scaring people ... all for stupid ratings.

I will trust what NHK says over CNN, CBS, NBC, RT, or the BBC any day, any time.
