China will always be the follower, not leader. So, don't worry about it. US can manage that.

Always is a long time, and it's already broken since China wasn't always a follower. It does kind of have a decently long history.

I like the comments so far

I think China will boom but because of it's 1 child Rule China will kill it self off that. China had 900 million people in 1979 when the 1 child rule come around now there is 1.34 Billion people the the maz that China will have is 1.4 Billion people UN forecast and that is in 2030 19 years away and with only with 950 million people by at the end of this century in the next century China will go down like flies by 2200 I can see China with only 250 million people that is now healthy in any economy China need to put a stop to this rule or it will kill the country.

Look up Jim Chanos. There is a China Bubble. In my opinion: China will temporarily eclipse the United States. Longer term: the United States will take back its position as #1. Here is why:

1.) China's population will implode versus the U.S. taking in more and more immigrants.
2.) The U.S. has a far more stable history than China. A far better track record on human rights and property rights.
3.) More people around the world want to be American than they do Chinese.

The future belongs to America.

I wouldn't count too much on that. The same thing was said about the European powers before World War I: never would they be so foolish as to wage a war with countries they shared economic interests with. But of course the war came nonetheless. Never underestimate man's irrationality .

Yep. We were all supposed to be living in space by the 1950s, flying around on jetpacks, while having our own personal robots.

china is the worlds oldest surviving civilisation and been going for an few thousand of years. America is only 200 years old. If America was at least as half as old as China then that statement would be better to judge. Comparing European History to Chinese History is an better option than comparing American History to Chinese one.
