I guess it depends on your preference. There's a lot of choices country to stay in Asia. If you like tropical Island or there's also places which is similar to the west where you can easily adapt the environment.

Yea, I agree, China is a big country, you can choose a middle size city to settle down. It's easy for an ameircan to find a job here, for example english language teacher. You can get fairly better salary. And you can also travel around the country to experience different places. Idont know if it'll be difficult to get a visa.

In short, it seems the OP is definitely not interested in the answer to this question for Asia.

Philippines ... Philippines is like America, UK, Australia, Canada because people really live in houses. You can get a house in a good suburb with a good lawn. Although there are also apartments in Manila, but majority still live in a house with a lawn.
Philippines have a laid back lifestyle so you will be fully relaxed.

That seems so undesirable to me. Moving to the Philippines to mow a lawn.

The Philippines is quite famous for retirees due to low cost of real estate compared to their home country. Most of them prefer properties that are beside the beach. However, if you would want to work, this is not a good place for you. You can put-up a business though. But if you really want to work then I would suggest China.

Personally, I think Japanese is a best choice. Then, that is Singapore. It'd better to live in clean and fresh countries with a good infrastructure facilities and stable policies.
