The article doesnt state the increase is "due to transgenders, gays, drug-use and prostitutes." as the original poster states. The article just says that these are at risk groups.

The biggest issue is stigma.. Instead of treating this disease in purely health terms it is the stigmatization of groups that is the main reason this disease is still killing people. There is no reason anyone should die prematurely due to the medication available - it is one of the most treatable diseases out there. Its sad these young people are living in a society where they would rather get deathly sick than simply feeling comfortable enough to be honest and get tested and treated. Imagine the pressure these groups must feel.

I agree.
But parents don't even want to accept straight teenage sex either.
Its pitiful. Asian society still turns a blind eye to teens having sex; they don't want to see it, hear about it or think about it. Gay OR straight. There's not much sexual safety being taught to these kids, everyone wants to pretend like it isn't happening.. and the kids pay the ultimate price for not knowing the full scope of the risks that they're stepping into.
I wonder how many will have to become infected without treatment and die before parents accept that their teens aren't pure, innocent virgin saints anymore.. talk to your kids about sex. Make sure they play safe and are prepared. Get them condoms.
I have a friend from Thailand who says that they are blaming Western (American, European) men and sex tourism for the increase in the AIDS/HIV infection rate. Many of those men travel great distances to have sex with children and teens; they also pay a great deal of money to have various types of unprotected sex with those girls (and boys)
It's very common for a regular American who is a devoted husband to travel to Thailand for just one night or two just to go and pay what is equivalent to $20-60 per prostitute for sex. I actually known someone who is an American serviceman that is married with a young kid who regularly travels to Thailand for sex. He has pics to show me and encouraged me to visit there and says it's an affordable enjoyment that you can't get caught like in the US.
I feel sorry for his wife but I'm not gonna turn him in because it's none of my business.

AND where are the kids' parents? What are the parents doing to raise them correctly? Right. Nothing. They're sitting back and doing nothing like always.
If teens are getting money by having sex with someone, the parents aren't doing THEIR part to protect them and educate them enough about sex, sexual abuse and sexual health. Blame whoever or whatever you want, but in the end only the parents are to blame for this nonsense.
Asian patents need to start taking accountability for themselves and their children -- and get their heads out of the hole.

Actually, no. No, it is NOT common for the majority of American men to spend $2,000+ on a plane ticket and go overseas for one single night just to sleep with a cheap Thialand hooker. What the hell? Thats almost funny that you even think that. A total waste of money that would be.
It isn't a bargain considering airfare costs and you can get better hookers here for much less.
That is a military guy, not a civilian man. Big difference. Military men (1% of guys) are nothing like everyday civilian (99%, the bulk) of everyday American men. No comparison. Military and civilians are completely separate breeds and lifestyles.
