Depends on how much money you have. I would recommend the Buryat Republic in Russia, bordering on Mongolia. You can visit Lake Baikal, which is breathtaking; the capital, Ulan Ude, is fascinating; it's a Buddhist culture, so if you can arrange travel out around the rural areas (I recommend anywhere near the Mongolian border--spectacular mountain scenery), you'll see temples and monasteries in beautiful valleys, or just off the side of the road. The food is great, the people are wonderful. There are tour companies that specialize in the Lake Baikal region and Buryatia, hiking tours in the mountains, and so forth. June or Aug. are good. July is hot, but if you don't mind the heat, that would work, too.
On the other hand, for something a bit more affordable, Taiwan is also beautiful, and the food is great. Your call.
I actually have been to Asia once. Tibet and Thailand. Not a fan of Thailand because a bunch of people on the street always trying to sell you sex from children. Not a fan to say the least. I just want to go back to Asia because I think I had the wrong impression the first time.
What part of Thailand were you at? If that's what your first impression of Thailand is, you must have been spending most of your time in some pretty sleezy areas. Cambodia has had a much bigger problem with pedophiles, but it has been clamping down on it. Thailand is pretty strict about such abuses and penalties are quite severe. Foreign pedos that go to Thailand tend to resort to conning kids. I've not heard much in the way of anyone actually trying to offer sex with kids to foreigners. If it happens, it must be extremely rare and through deeply secretive underground networks. It's also possible that people making such offers are part of a sting operation to snag potential pedophiles. Unfortunately, such abuses can happen anywhere, even in New York.

i think it's pretty clear we're dealing with a liar. it's absolutely impossible for someone to leave thailand with this impression. a farang oriented child prostitution simply doesn't exist in any capacity. anyone who claims they were approached, and frequently at that, is a liar, plain and simple.
the inclusion of tibet also proves this as well. no one flies directly to tibet. you have to go somewhere else in china first, and you can't simply make a stop over.

I'm not a "liar". I went to Tibet to go to Mount Everest base camp once. Only a stop over in Shanghai, so I really haven't been to China just a stopover. I went to Bangkok and many men on the street corner with young girls. Also allot of Child pornography. The reason i'm asking this question is because i'm looking for new places to go, and I want to try again with Asia. I understand you're trying to defend Thailand, and I know what I saw. Street venders there sell child porn and ask you if you're looking for boom boom. And this was only three years ago.

WHAT??!!!?? Who told you Russia isn't safe for tourists?! That most certainly isn't true. Buryatia and the Russ Far East are very placid, and beautiful. I don't know where you'd be traveling from, but you can fly East through Korea directly to the RFE, and then get a flight to Buryatia. Alaska Airlines is considering re-starting their direct flights from the West Coast of the US to the RFE.
There's also the Kamchatka Peninsula, just 3 hrs. out of Anchorage. Beautiful city, Petro-Pavlovsk Kamchatsky, set on a fjord, with volcanoes in the distance. In September, the Native people have their big "summer" pow-wow, with traditional dancing. Old, abandoned villages with totem poles. It's a lot like Alaska. Americans take fishing tours there.
If you really have no clue what you want to do in Asia, why bother at all?
If you didn't like Thailand, you won't like Vietnam, etc.

I don't know where you'd be traveling from, but you can fly East through Korea directly to the RFE, and then get a flight to Buryatia.
