After the end of Communism, a lot of Russians emigrated to Israel. Although many had some distant Jewish ancestry, few of them were religious. With so many people moving to a small nation in a short amount of time (over 1,000,000 in 10-15 years), there was some tension. A few young Russian emigrants became Neo-Nazis! How is the situation now in regards to ethnic Russians in Israel? God bless.

Most of the Russian speakers from the former USSR who immigrated to Israel were Jewish and not ethnic Russians.
True, but many of them didn't know much, if anything, about Judaism.
That is one example about how "ethnicity" is a little different in the United States. You can be ethnically Jewish but still American, because there's no such thing as "ethnic" Americanism. This is probably because Jews were emancipated from the beginning of the United States.

Keep in mind that the same country killed and sent off to the camps over 2,000,000 to die around WW2 while they were on Germany's side for a few years. And the death rate of Jews continued to be higher than the birth rate until the fall of communism. So over the past 70 years 4,000,000 Jews disappeared from there.
