Anyway, again, let's limit to Jakarta n Manila. That figures is given, why? you have a huge land area and territory as compare to us. off course infrastructure computed on the over all basis, that covers your entire archipelago which is double or even triple of our size.

Well i wouldn't care much about the $500, beside even it would be a 5000000 rupiah it really means nothing much for a month living in this expensive city.

You have more limited land size so the infrastructure should be easier to be managed and built compared to the vast and large indonesia no? The eastern side of indonesia didnt really have that much infras, we used to be the worst in asean too. So if indo is scored this way, it simply means we (ncluding the capital again) have better infras than philippines and even capital vs capital only.

Go and search for threads on Jakarts vs Manila and read the comments. Also, Manila at least has an LRT/MRT system. It's not great but it's something
The reason why jakasrta has more terrible trafic is relatively simple, we have less pedestrians on the street as compared to Manila and everyone travels by motorbike or car, there are too many vehicles and not enough road. The busway and train helps 2.5 million pedestrians a day but also those living in jabodetabek's satelite cities population of 28 million people. Manila have LRT and we have KRL suburban rail, so isnt that fair? And we also are building new more modern airport complete with railink service. I would also put the highways of Jakarta above those in Manila, well you can google earth it yourself. And also its safer city to live with lower crime rate as compared to Manila.

he he he kiding on that 500 though.

In the case of Phl. infrastructure in some provinces are harder like in northern luzon, with those high terrain areas like baguio city, nueva vizcaya, cordilleras, among others which is on the average around 5000 feet above sea level. plus curving those mountainous areas make the gov't more expensive. though they did. in the south archipelago / inter island makes the case harder as well. island to island almost in every cities. plus some war torn zone in some mindanao provinces (muslim areas) plus the fact that corruption is at its peak since the 70s a simple project requires a lot red tapes

The archipelago of Indonesia is bigger and even more complicated with thousands of tiny islands, and the country is also plagued with corruption, so its not really an excuse i would accept.

Jakarta has Jabodetabek KRL system that covers Jakarta's metropolitan cities (bogor, tangrang, bekasi, depok) and also way bigger than the few lines of Manila LRT\MRT. It also have busway with its own lane, and currently are building MRT which is to be done in 2017.
