They speak a dialect of Lao, which is somewhat mutually intelligible with Thai, and also consider themselves ethnic Lao, but I assume they think of themselves as just as Thai as other Thais? Or do they relate more with the lowland Lao people? Or are they seen as almost a separate ethnic minority within Thailand?
Is it really true that MOST of the bargirls/working girls you see in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket.etc are from Isan? What about urban regions or the Northeast or South?

well according ti nautpong the lao bar girls from issan are ethnically the same people as the thai siamese....its just that issan is alot poorer then most of thailand....laos afterall is a very poor country even by SEAsian standards
slum girls are physically dirty...no one would want to sleep with them...thats probably why you dont see many slum girls working as BG in thailand
